Are you interested in being part of the transformation of vocational education in our sector? Do you want to transform workforce planning and development? Your unique view can help guide our industry’s Workforce Development Council in implementing new concepts and initiatives.

Hanga-Aro-Rau Workforce Development Council (WDC) represents the manufacturing, engineering, and logistics industries and is calling for Expressions of Interest (EoI) from industry representatives interested in being part of new National Industry Advisory Groups (NIAGs).

WDCs ensure our sectors lead and influence the vocational education system and its transformation.

Applications close on Friday 10 February, 2023 and will then undergo an internal review. Applicants can expect to hear back late February 2023.

NIAGs will hold a unique position supporting Hanga-Aro-Rau operations and guiding priorities. They will be sector-specific and validate workstreams and test the thinking of new concepts and initiatives for their respective industries.

There will be eight NIAGs in total covering the following sectors:

  1. General Manufacturing
  2. Engineering
  3. Food and Beverage (including bakery, butchery, and meat processing)
  4. Commercial Road Transport
  5. Extractives and Energy
  6. Ports
  7. Automotive Engineering
  8. Marine.

Group members would be expected to provide a specialist perspective of their sector’s current and future workforce needs and help influence how Hanga-Aro-Rau better supports their sector.

Draft Terms of Reference have been developed which cover all NIAGs. Here you will learn more about the purpose and make-up of the groups, their roles and responsibilities, and how they align with our duties, as outlined in our Order in Council. In addition, those who successfully secure a NIAG role will be asked to commit to a code of conduct to ensure professional and cordial relations within the groups.
