Thanks to all the members and educators who made Engineering for Educators 2022 such a success, and a special thank you to our hosts, APL Manufacturing.

About 40 members and 40 educators from 14 organisations joined the breakfast tour of APLM’s impressive manufacturing facility at Hautapu. Safe to say guests were blown away by the sheer capacity and innovation going on under APLM’s roof!

Big thanks again to Johann, Howard, and the APLM team for hosting us!

APLM has generously offered to host any WECA Members interested in reciprocated tours to share manufacturing practises.

If this is of interest, please reach out to Johann (Operations Manager) [email protected]

More about APL
A true Waikato success story, APL has grown since the early 1970s to become New Zealand’s largest manufacturer of aluminium doors and windows.

As part of the Profile Group of companies- recently named Supreme Winner of the 2022 Waikato Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards – APLM and the wider Profile Group has evolved a vertical supply chain. Each part of the business concentrates on its singular role in delivering market-leading products to the New Zealand building industry. The end-to-end service covers every major step in the manufacturing process, from extruding the aluminium to delivering systems and parts directly to manufacturers.

As well as the manufacturing facility, the vertically integrated network of companies includes an on-site aluminium extrusion plant (INEX), double-glazing manufacturing plant (AGP), surface finishing plants (Colour Works for powdercoating and FINEX for anodising), plastic profile extrusion (PPL), and a distribution fleet (APL Direct) servicing manufacturers.
