Paul Edwards Operations Manager – Rocktec Ltd A qualified plant engineer in my early years, I have progressed my career through various companies, industries, and levels within those organisations up to senior management. I no longer refer to myself as an engineer, but I must admit I find it extremely difficult to ignore my roots. My professional specialty these days is business improvement, bringing huge efficiency gains and operational cost savings to those organisations I have had the pleasure of working with. This skill I apportion to my engineering training and background so although I may not be dealing with the nuts and bolts, business systems are not that different. My personal and business philosophy has been, and continues to be, one that develops those around me to create an environment of learning and progress. The opportunity to get involved with WECA, I believe fits well with this philosophy and I look forward to offering my experience and energy to work with WECA to develop the industry further. |
Trisha King Director – Mainline Sheetmetals Limited In 1987, Graeme and I began Mainline Sheetmetals with two employees. Twenty years on, we employ a team of 16 people of which 5 are working through their apprenticeships in light fabrication. In 2004, I completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies at Waikato University. This course of study was challenging and provided me with a better understanding of the business processes that are necessary to stay competitive. I believe in promoting the trade sector as an excellent career path for young people to follow. The opportunities are endless. WECA has brought the engineering industry together so that resources and capabilities can be better utilized. I look forward to contributing to the future of engineering through WECA.
