    If you intend to join us in Thames on Thursday the format will be as follows:

    • 11am registration of candidates. Job descriptions provided by you (as above) will be available for candidates to look at.
    • Each employer will have a sheet with 15 minute interview slots. Potential candidates for your vacancies will sign up for an interview time. WECA will help coordinate movement between employers and candidates. You are welcome to stay after 1.30pm if you have multiple vacancies or need more time, however you will need to manage this yourself. Any follow up interviews or discussions can be organised between yourself and the candidate/s.

    If you are unable to join us in Thames:

    • Please complete the job description form as above which we will make available to candidates on the day.
    • We will collect some basic information from all candidates on Thursday in order to forward to you if they are interested in pursuing one of your vacancies.

    The EVolocity schools programme in Waikato assists teams of secondary schools students to design and build sustainable electric vehicles. The programme can form part of NCEA technology, physics, science or education for sustainability studies.

    EVolocity delivers practical education on electric transportation through:
    • A project based learning programme in high schools in which teams of students are equipped with an electric motor kit and, with tutoring and a series of hands-on workshops throughout the year, they design and build their very own electric vehicles. In most cases this will form part of their NCEA technology, physics, science or education for sustainability studies.
    • Running public electric vehicle test drive programmes in association with our end of year schools competition.

  • Engineering in Action

    The aim of this day is to provide Waikato secondary school students with a unique opportunity to see what engineering looks like in real time, out in industry. Students and teachers will see both the work engineering companies in the Waikato undertake and the career opportunities available in the sector.

    Over the years we have received tremendous support for this event and are pleased to invite engineering companies to continue to open their doors to young students. This will involve a site visits by a group of students and teacher.

    When: Tuesday May 10th

    With school industry visits from 9.15am to 10.30am and 12.45pm to 2pm.
  • WECA Event: The Local Taphouse

    It would be great to see you, and even better if you can bring along a friend from our industry. This will be a time to catch up and check out one of Hamilton’s newest venues.

    WECA supporter and recruitment specialist Graham Rodgers (Success Personnel) will share a few pearls of wisdom about how to spot drug use in the workplace, and how to deal with it. WECA support Kyle Pennell (Life Care Consultants) will also share about health and safety legislation.

    4.30 to 5pm: Networking and tour of TechGym, a membership-based modern workshop environment at Wintec where people of all skill levels can use industrial tools, equipment and technology to design, create and build their own projects.

  • Engineering in Action Day 2015

    Tuesday, May 12, Wintec Rotokauri Campus, Hamilton

    Engineering in Action gives Waikato secondary school students a unique opportunity to see what engineering looks like in real time, out in the industry and in the classroom.

    This experience will help students understand the opportunities and explore areas of engineering which might suit them - whether it be in the trades or in the design side of engineering. They’ll get to go on industry visits, find out what it takes to get into engineering, and take a tour of Wintec’s purpose-built facilities.

    Wintec’s Engineering graduates are highly employable, with our most recent graduate destination survey showing an average 91% employment rate.

    Last year we had fantastic feedback from teachers who attended with their students, and we know this year will be even better.
